Open Scanner & Allow Camera
Open the scanner on your mobile phone or device with a camera. When prompted, click “Allow” to grant camera permission so we can scan QR codes.
Login with Google Account
Click “Sign in with Google” and choose your account. Grant permission to create and manage spreadsheets in your Drive. This is required to save your scanned data.
Scan Your First QR Code
Point your camera at any QR code from PDF forms, tickets, or documents. The scanner detects automatically – no button press needed!
Data Saved Automatically
On your first scan, a spreadsheet is created in your Drive. All data is saved instantly with proper formatting. Check your Google Drive to see the magic!

This scanner reads dynamic QR codes from fillable PDF forms. When you fill a PDF form and generate a QR code from it, all your filled information gets stored inside that QR code in a structured format.
The scanner can read two types of data:
- Form Data: Registration forms, applications, invoices with multiple fields
- Plain Text: Simple text QR codes (URLs, messages, etc.) and text or message barcodes
Your data automatically saves to Google Sheets in YOUR Google Drive. The scanner creates two different spreadsheets based on what you scan:
1. Clickobyte Form Spreadsheet
This is where all PDF form data gets saved. When you scan a registration form or invoice, the data goes here. Default sheet name: “Scans”.
2. Clickobyte Text Spreadsheet
Plain text QR codes are saved here with date and time stamps. Default sheet name: “TextScans”.
Yes! This is one of the most useful features.
You can create multiple sheets within the same spreadsheet to organize different form types. For example:
- Create “Registrations” sheet for event registration forms
- Create “Invoices” sheet for invoice QR codes
- Create “Feedback” sheet for survey forms
How to create a new sheet:
After your first scan, you’ll see a dropdown menu and a “Create New Sheet” button. Click it, enter a name like “Invoices”, and it’s created instantly!
When you first open the scanner, follow these steps:
Step 1: Login
Click “Sign in with Google” and choose your account. Google will ask permission to create and manage spreadsheets – you must allow this.
Step 2: Camera Access
The camera starts automatically. Point it at your first QR code.
Step 3: First Scan Magic
When you scan a form QR code for the first time, the scanner will:
- Create “Clickobyte Form Spreadsheet” in your Drive
- Create default “Scans” sheet inside it
- Add column headers from your form fields
- Save your data in the first row
You’ll see a success popup and your phone will beep to confirm!
The scanner shows real-time status at the top. Here’s what each means:
Status Messages:
- “Ready To Scan” – Scanner is active and waiting for a QR code
- “Data Scanning…” – Processing the QR code you just scanned
- “Data Saved To Sheet” – Successfully saved with green tick mark
- “Data Scanned – Login To Save” – You scanned without logging in first
Popup Messages:
- Green “Data Successfully Saved” – Form data saved perfectly
- Golden “Data Successfully Saved” – Plain text saved successfully
- Red “Data Already Exists!” – Duplicate detected, not saved again
- Red “Sheet Reserved…” – You’re trying to save a different form type to a reserved sheet
Event Registration:
Attendees fill PDF registration forms and generate QR codes. At the event entrance, staff scan these codes and all attendee data is instantly saved to Sheets. Complete attendee list ready in minutes!
Invoice Management:
Create PDF invoices with QR codes. When payment is received, scan the invoice QR and all details are logged automatically. Easy tracking without typing.
Survey Collection:
Print survey forms with QR codes. Respondents fill manually, you scan completed forms, and all responses compile instantly in Sheets. Analyze hundreds of surveys in minutes!
School Admissions:
Parents fill admission forms, generate QR codes, and school staff scans them. Student records automatically added to database – no manual data entry!
Healthcare Forms:
Patients fill intake forms with QR codes. Reception scans and patient data enters the system instantly. HIPAA-compliant and efficient!

Where Your Data Goes:

How to Revoke Access:
Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find “QR Scanner by Clickobyte”, and click “Remove Access”. Instant revocation!
Yes! Your data is in standard Google Sheets format.

In addition to dynamic QR codes from PDF forms, this scanner can also read and save:
- Plain Text QR Codes: Simple text messages, information snippets
- URL QR Codes: Website links, social media URLs
- Text Barcodes: Standard 1D barcodes containing text or numeric data

Yes! You can add it to your home screen for quick and easy access.
This is a web app, which means you don’t need to download it from an app store. Instead, you can install it directly to your phone’s home screen, where it will appear as an icon just like any other app.
📱 How to Install on iOS (iPhone/iPad):
Using Safari:
- Open the scanner website in Safari browser
- Tap the Share button (square with arrow pointing up) at the bottom
- Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
- Edit the name if you like, then tap “Add”
- The app icon will now appear on your home screen!
Using Microsoft Edge:
- Open the scanner website in Edge browser
- Tap the three dots (…) menu at the bottom
- Tap “Add to Phone” or “Add to Home Screen”
- Tap “Add” to confirm
- App icon created on your home screen!
Using Chrome:
- Open the scanner website in Chrome browser
- Tap the three dots (…) menu in the top-right corner
- Select “Add to Home Screen”
- Name the app and tap “Add”
- Confirm by tapping “Add” again
- Done! Icon is now on your home screen

- Open the scanner website in Chrome, Edge, or any browser
- Tap the three dots (⋮) or three lines (≡) menu icon in the top-right corner
- Select “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”
- Give it a name (or keep the default)
- Tap “Add” or “Install”
- The app icon appears on your home screen — ready to use!
Camera not working?
- Check if you allowed camera permission when prompted
- Go to browser settings and enable camera for this site
- Try a different browser (Chrome works best)
QR code not scanning?
- Ensure good lighting on the QR code
- Hold phone steady, about 6-8 inches from code
- Make sure QR code is fully visible in camera frame
Data not saving?
- Check if you’re logged in with Google
- Verify internet connection is active
- Check Google Drive for created spreadsheets
“Sheet Reserved” error?
- You’re trying to save a different form type to an existing sheet
- Solution: Create a new sheet or select the correct sheet from dropdown
